for Chapter 1
The Word of Christ
| 1. What is the Bible about? | |
| The whole Bible is about Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. | John 5:39 |
| It tells me of his sufferings and the glories that followed. | Luke 24:27,44; 1 Pet 1:10,11 |
| 2. How does the Bible teach about Jesus? | |
| First, it teaches that I need a Savior because of Adam’s sin. | Gen 1:1 - 3:24 |
| Then it teaches how no one but Jesus can be that Savior. | Gen 4:1 - Mal 4:6; Acts 3:22-26 |
| Lastly, it teaches what a great salvation Jesus brought | |
| and how I must long for that salvation to appear at the last day. | Matt 1:1 - Rev 22:21 |
| 3. How do you know that the Bible is true? | |
| Because God speaks it and God does not lie. | 1 Tim 3:16; Heb 6:18 |
| 4. How did God write the Bible? | |
| He put his Holy Spirit in men | |
| so that they would write only what was true. | 2 Pet 1:21 |
| He has not done this for any other book. | Rev 22:18,19 |
| 5. How does God convince you that the Bible is true? | |
| The same Holy Spirit who wrote the Bible | |
| works in my heart so I believe what I hear. | Ezekiel 37:1-15; 1 Th 1:5,6 |
| 6. But could you not understand these things on your own? | |
| No. Because of sin I would not recognize God’s word. | John 1:10; 1 Cor 2:14 |
| Or if I recognized it, I would hate it. | Rom 8:7 |
| But the Holy Spirit gives me a new heart | Ezek 36:26 |
| so that I recognize and love the Bible as God’s word. | 1 Cor 2:4,5, Acts 16:14 |
| 7. When does the Holy Spirit convince you that the Bible is God’s word? | |
| Whenever he chooses. | John 3:8 |
| But in a special way he works through the preaching of the word. | Ro 10:14; 1 Cor 1:21 |
